It’s that time of the year! World football is played over almost ten months starting roughly from August to May of the next calendar year, but it’s make or break period certainly lies in between the holidays — the transfer season. It is also very much true that the winter transfer window also helps teams in changing them from relegation candidates to survivors or top-four sides to title winning squads, but the magic of summer hits different.

It is this time of the year when the slate is clean for experiments and strategies, right from the club management to the…

The European Championships 2020 have proceeded exceedingly well, with only eight teams remaining at the quarterfinal stage. The competition has seen a lot of thrills and unheralded teams have stamped themselves on the big stage. Teams that were erstwhile unheard of in doing well at this level of the game have disrupted well-made plans of the bigger nations and in turn, made a name for themselves among their fans, well-wishers and supporters. The competition, which has now proceeded to the quarterfinal stage, has only eight teams remaining, out of which only one will be crowned champion.

To be sure, this edition of the competition will see a new winner as the defending champions Portugal were knocked out by a belligerent Belgian side in the round of sixteen stage. In a game that remained inspid for most of the time at the aesthetically pleasing Estadio Olímpico de Sevilla in Seville, it was little-known Thorgan Hazard’s chance to shine at the big stage. A stunning goal in the 44th minute thanks to a lovely ball by Thomas Meunier ensured that the Red Devils edged in front of the Portuguese at half time. …

It’s finally here. The competition that every football fan, from Europe or otherwise, has been waiting for the last three years. UEFA Euro 2021 is set to begin on 11th of June, which is just a few days apart now. The tournament which is held every two years was postponed last year when the COVID pandemic hit the world and disrupted not only the football industry, but stopped the entire world. But with the situation fairly taken under control, European football can witness its biggest fiesta soon.

UEFA, the European football governing body, had passed a proposal for the tournament…

Manchester United travel to the Stadion Energa in Gdansk, Poland to take on the deemed home team Villarreal in the final of the prestigious UEFA Europa League competition on 26 May 2021, Wednesday. Spanish side Villarreal are most likely going to finish at the seventh position of the La Liga competition table whereas the visiting side Manchester United have secured a second-place finish for themselves in the Premier League table. This game is going to be a very important one for the Red Devils from Manchester as it is going to be one of the few times that they have…

It doesn’t get better than this. After a turbulent 5 days of the footballing world going haywire over the European Super League, it’s the Champions League semi-finals in just a week’s time. Considering that three of the four semi-finalists were involved in the coup which could see the sport making historical changes, it is going to be a heated affair when the sides meet next on 27 and 28th of June 2021.

This season’s competition has been a bit weird too. There have been ’n’ number of criticisms as to the venue of the matches, the results which followed as consequences and not to forget the pure on-field miracles that followed. Be it the Portuguese Champions FC Porto eliminating Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus in their own backyard or current holders Bayern Munich bowing out in the quarter-final stages — the action this season has been second to none.

The Road to Istanbul continues but there won’t be the kings of Istanbul gracing the competition this time. Liverpool, who famously won a Champions League…

As all the major football leagues in the world take a well-earned break, the international competitions get fired up to showcase the best in the world turning up for their respective nations. This particular international break will be even more interesting, given that the first round of the World Cup Qualification competition will be played across the world. All major countries will be vying for top honours in this competition so that they can guarantee an easy pathway for themselves to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which is slated to be held in Qatar.

This Qualification competition might throw up…

Manchester United’s once-blue eyed boy and now-outcast Jesse Lingard has secured a loan move for himself to West Ham United in the January transfer window. He has also had a spectacular start to his career for the Hammers as he netted two goals on his debut against Aston Villa in Gameweek 22 of the Premier League competition. Lingard, who is 28 years old now, has had an unusual time at Old Trafford of late and it is only for his betterment that he has secured the loan move to the London Stadium in the capital city of England.

Of late…

The past four days have been really difficult at Stamford Bridge, London. After a series of disappointing performances which was leading to no clear path for Chelsea Football Club, the Board of the London-based club parted ways with player legend turned manager Frank Lampard. Lampard was Chelsea’s third manager in the space of 4 years — a record that only the Blues can boast of, in the English Premier League. The Management of the English club is reckoned as one of the most ruthless top level hierarchy, not only in Europe but in the entire world.

For the supporters and…

The English Premier League competition made an emphatic return to competitive football a couple of weeks ago. However, in the week gone by, the first tier of the English professional football structure made a rigorous argument to its contention of being perhaps the most competitive football league in Europe. The matches were played with extreme competitiveness by all the twenty sides involved, and there were more than a few upsets which went our way and made sure that it was not always the favourites who ended up bagging the three points required. …

The major leagues across Europe made a return over the weekend of 20 November 2020 and 22 November 2020 and we are sure that the millions of fans tuning in to watch the action or the handful of those lucky enough to be present at the grounds must have enjoyed to their heart’s fill. The international break of a couple of weeks which had preceded this was a dampener of sorts for the fans of many nationalities, especially more so of the German kind, who had to suffer the heartbreak of several varieties over the tenure.

The Spanish first division…
